Safeguarding Children Incorporating Child Protection Policy

Policy Consultation & Review

Thurton Church of England VC Primary School has effective policies and procedures in place to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in accordance with statutory guidance and ensures that all members of the school community are aware of the content of these documents.

The school Safeguarding Policy has been devised with consideration to the Local Authority model policy and the most up to date guidance. When revising the policy, school leaders and the Designated Safeguarding Leads access guidance and templates from the Norfolk Schools website to ensure that the documents are the most up to date.

The school Safeguarding Policy is available on our school website and is available on request from the school office. We also inform parents and carers about this policy when their children join our school and through our school newsletter.

We recognise the expertise our staff build by undertaking safeguarding training and managing safeguarding concerns on a daily basis and we therefore invite staff to contribute to and shape this policy and associated safeguarding arrangements.

The policy is provided to all staff at induction alongside our Staff Code of Conduct. In addition, all staff are provided with Part One of the statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, DfE (2016).

This policy will be reviewed in full by the Governing Body on an annual basis.
