History is an important part of our learning at Thurton Primary School. Right from Reception all the way to Year 6, children are introduced to historical characters and time periods and are given a chance to learn from a variety of different sources about the lives of people in times gone by. As children progress through the school, they develop their historical understanding and are taught to question and evaluate historical sources to gain a more accurate understanding of the period they are studying.
As you can see, we love to make our history learning exciting and fun, giving the children meaningful experiences that will embed their learning. Children also get the opportunity to go on a variety of school trips to support their history learning. Previous trips include Norwich Castle, Colchester Castle, West Stow Anglo-Saxon Village and The Poppy Line Evacuee Experience.
We link much of our curriculum together so children will also find themselves finding out about history through art, geography, RE and music!
